June is National Dairy Month

Celebrate the start of Summer
with Dairy

Can you believe we’re already half-way through 2008? June is the time to celebrate dairy’s delicious health benefits, so gather up the family and get the party started!

Say Cheese!
June 4th is Cheese Day.  Why not pack up the kids and take a road trip to your local family farm to see how cheese is made? You can take lots of photos and create a scrapbook commemorating the day.  Calcium is crucial to keeping those pearly whites strong and healthy, so smile big! And don’t forget to send your best picture to the farmer as a thank you.

Mother’s Little Helpers
Little ones love pitching in around the house.  Contributing to chores builds self-esteem and gives them a sense of accomplishment. Why not assign your kids the tasks of creating shopping lists and printing out coupons with our Dairy Connect Widget?  Once the shopping’s done they can help plan meals with the 3-A-Day Recipe Index and chart your family’s diet with the handy Dairy Tracker.

Keep On Learning
Just because school is out doesn’t mean that your kids have to stop learning. Sites like Fun Dairy Links and Nutritious Explorations Activity Page have educational games, activities and contests that teach kids the value of proper nutrition.

Having Fun with Dairy
Now that your kids have discovered the benefits of dairy online show them how to have fun with dairy in real life! Kick off the start of softball season with a build-your-own Garden Veggie Pizza party for the entire team.   Finish a Saturday night sleepover with a Nesquik Chocolate Brunch French Toast festival on Sunday morning.  Looking for a healthy way to celebrate a summer birthday?  Design a do-it-yourself frozen yogurt bar with lots of tasty fruit toppings!

One Fish, Two Fish
Dad’s big catch might not be large enough to mount on the wall, but it may be a fitting ingredient for Baked Fish Au Gratin. This creamy, cheesy fish dish is the perfect way to end a long, sunny day out on the lake.  Salad on a Stick is a quick and easy complement to top off the meal.

Rain, Rain Go Away
Need a cure for rainy-day cabin fever? Pop in the kids’ favorite DVD and toss some grated parmesan atop a hot bowl of popcorn for a dairy-infused movie treat. While you’re at it, go ahead and treat yourself a Blues Buster Smoothie and take a load off with a book from your summer reading list.

Now that summer is here it’s more important than ever for your family to keep bones strong and healthy with 3 servings of dairy each day.  Keep the celebration going all month long with delicious dairy!
